The Frame Shop
This Photoshop action set makes your photos into images suitable for use as computer “desktops” or “wallpaper.” The actions will resize the image, place it in a virtual mat and frame, and hang it on a virtual textured wall.
The overall resolution of the images produced by the action is 1920 X 1080 pixels, which is a common computer monitor resolution. The framed and matted photo is positioned slightly above center to allow for the taskbar along the bottom of the screen, and is small enough to provide plenty of room for icons around the edges. The aspect ratio of the original image is not changed.

The action can be run on a single image in Photoshop, but using the action within Photoshop’s Image Processor script lets you process a whole folder of files which can then be used in either Windows or Mac OS as a desktop “slideshow.”
The tone and color of the mat, frame and (optionally) the wall are derived from the average tone and color values of the original image, so the result is unique for each photo, as shown in these examples:
A second version of the action called Desktop and frame neutral bkgd is included which always produces a neutral gray wall. This is useful when preparing images for a video slideshow.
